Karan Patel On Ankita Bhargava's Miscarriage, Says It Was A Movie Which Didn't Release

How happy it is when a couple is all set to embrace parenthood and welcome their own production into this beautiful world. And what if the parents-to-be lose their baby before it arrives. Can’t even think of it, right? It would be a nightmare and the ugliest thought. This sad and foulest thing has happened to one of the famous television couples, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein fame Karan Patel and his actress wife, Ankita Bhargava.

Karan Patel and Ankita Bhargava were supposed to welcome their first baby in November 2018, but unfortunately, Ankita suffered a miscarriage in June 2018. But commendable is their optimistic attitude towards life that they are moving on and giving goals. Somewhere down the line that created a void in their lives then but hats off to the fact that they have coped up amazingly and are coming out of it.

Being on the same page of positive attitude, Karan in an interview with Mid-Day has poured his heart out regarding Ankita’s miscarriage. Here’s what he said, "We are in a positive state of mind. We want to start a family and are planning for it. The incident is behind us. It's a film that didn't' release, but the show must go on." What a constructive way to look at this big thing that has happened to them. Kudos to you Karan and Ankita!

Earlier in an interview with Bombay Times, Karan had shared his excitement about welcoming the baby and was quoted as saying, “It's sinking in slowly, and I am ecstatic. I can't go through the emotions and transformations, which Ankita is going through. It's a beautiful phase for her as she will graduate from a wife to a mother. I plan to spoil our baby silly with love and pampering once he/she is born. We would like to have two kids - both Ankita and I are the only children of our parents, and we understand the need for a sibling."

For the uninitiated, the couple released an official statement confirming the miscarriage that could be read as, “I would urge all media personnel to please allow Karan and Ankita Karan Patel enough time to deal with the miscarriage. It is a difficult time for them individually and for the families involved. This sudden turn of events happened a few days ago and ever since we have tried to keep it low key, only so that we allow them enough time to cope with it.”

It could be further read as, “However, given the nature of the lives they live we do understand there will be speculation and concern from many, while we are ever thankful to the love and concern shown I’m sure we all agree that it is a tough time for them and coming to terms with it will take a few days!! Please consider this as a formal acceptance of the misfortune that has occurred in their lives and thank you in advance for respecting their privacy.”

Recently, on her birthday, Ankita shared a lovely picture with Karan along with a heart-warming caption, "It’s my bday... And for the 1st time in my life, I wanted to celebrate like there is no tomorrow... For U and For Us Both  God Can be as hard as he wants on us But with each passing year, We have stood tall against smallest and biggest of all hardships cos We r each other’s backbone! When I’m weak U stay strong, and when u Waver I Hold U still...! And that my love is our reason to celebrate! Kyun ki Haar ke jeetne wale ko hi Baazigar Kehte hain! #happybirthdaytous  I love you like I have never loved before We are spellbound after seeing such positive attitude of the loveliest couple in town, Karan Patel and Ankita Bhargava. We wish, pray and hope that you two give us the good news very soon again!"

Bengaluru-origin boy makes it to Forbes '30 Under 30'

A Bengaluru-origin 29-year-old Achuta Kadambi has been named in the prestigious Forbes magazine's 2019 "30 under 30" list for Science.

Kadambi, a second generation Indian American, is a professor at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA). He has been named under the science category in the coveted list. The annual list honours emerging stars in 20 different industries.

Forbes 30 Under 30 list is released annually by Forbes magazine. Forbes recognises 600 business and industry figures, with 30 selected in twenty industries each. Asia and Europe also have ten categories, while Africa has a single list of 30 people. Forbes hosts associated conferences and a section of its website called 30 Under 30.

“It is a very prestigious honour for me and I am very glad to bring that to UCLA,” Kadambi said in an exclusive interview with DH.

Kadambi studied Bachelor of Science degree from UC Berkeley before completing his Masters degree from Yale University. He has also done his PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Kadambi’s prime focus area is to give robots extraordinary vision capabilities beyond what human eyes are capable of.

In fact, Kadambi credits a lot of his success to his parents who were from Bengaluru. His parents used to live in Jayanagar area of Bengaluru, before migrating to the US.

“I used to come to Bengaluru every year for the summers….. I last visited the place a year ago. Because of my parents' background, my experiences have been shaped as the technical rigour of the previous generation. Bengaluru is not only known for technological disruptions, but they are also looking for the social impact of it now,” he says.

The university, according to Kadambi, is looking to build an academic bridge with Bengaluru. “In terms of actual type of academic bridges that we are trying to build, the key is about how students want to build that bridge,” he says.

According to him, during his student days, he was used to building academic bridges by leveraging problems in India with the solutions in the west. “One of the projects that we were looking at was how to make a low-cost X-ray scanner. This is not the problem we were thinking from the US perspective. But it is very much needed in India,” he said about his student life experience.

The UCLA, for now, has active collaborations with IISc in Bengaluru. His honours include the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Computational Photography, the Lemelson-MIT student prize, the Qualcomm 100K Fellowship; and the Charles Draper Fellowship.

“The world is looking for more collaborations – particularly from the people who are not in science and engineering. We are also looking for collaborations with artists and designers now,” he says.
